What Is a Change-of-Physician Request in Georgia Workers’ Compensation?

The doctor you select becomes your authorized treating physician. What counts as a valid change of physician request
Georgia law allows injured workers time change from one physician to another on the same posted panel without needing permission from the employer or insurer. This means if you are unhappy with your first choice, whether due to poor communication, a diagnosis that does not match your symptoms, or simply a lack of confidence in the treatment plan, you generally have the option to select a different doctor from that same list one time. Once you have used your one free change, additional switches require approval from the employer, the insurance company, or the State Board of Workers’ Compensation.
